Let me start out by stating that I am fully aware the the title of this post, and the day of the week do not match. That is because I was simply too tired to post last night. I still want to let you know about my Wednesday nights, and why Wednesday is quickly becoming my favorite night of the week (again for those of you who have read my very first blog post).
One of my coworkers is from the same city in Texas as me and graduated from the same university two years before me. (No, we didn't know each other before I moved here). My first week here, she invited my to a girl's Bible Study that she goes to at a lady named Kathy's house every Wednesday. Kathy is in her fifties, but the girls that go are all early to mid twenties and in many different walks of life. There are young professionals, nurses, nannies, newlyweds (lots of newlyweds), students (undergrad, masters, and med school) and a whole lot of Texans :)
My first week to go was the first week of the fall Bible Study. Kathy made dinner so we could eat first. The house was filled with chatting and laughing and girls squealing, "Ahhh I missed you, how was your summer?" Everyone was so sweet, but I felt like everybody knew everybody, except me. When we started, Kathy said, "Okay. I want everyone here to know how awkward everyone else feels even though they are pretending they don't. Raise your hand if this is your first week here." Half the room's hands went up. It's not just me! But, wait, there's more! Three other girls had just moved from Texas within the past month, were my age, and didn't know anyone yet. Just like me!
I love this group, and I love Kathy. She is great. She has a passion for the Bible and her teaching methods are unlike anything I've ever seen in a Bible Study. If I told you some of the things we do, you probably wouldn't believe me, and I wouldn't want it any other way. She brings fun in a way that I never would have thought were fitting in a Bible Study. On Wednesdays (when I don't have to work late) I am always guaranteed a night full of laughing, crying, and learning the Gospel of John in a whole new light.
Kathy broke us into groups and told us to make a timeline for John 4. That's right, ours is a Texas.

Yes, Kathy is reading to us from a children's book. It's called The Empty Pot and I highly recommend it :)
I love the Wednesdays.
